Home-schooling Class

Empowering Young People and Supporting Parents/ Guardians

Introduction

Our Wednesday home-schooling class provides Hair and Beauty education for children who are not currently attending school. The class offers a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where young people can develop practical skills, build confidence, form friendships, and improve their wellbeing through structured, creative sessions.

Recognising that some children require alternative learning opportunities outside mainstream school, we are introducing an engaging in-house programme tailored to their needs. The class will introduce foundational hair, beauty, and barbering skills, helping learners gain practical experience, routine, confidence, and a positive pathway for future progression.

Programme Details

The class takes place every Wednesday and offers structured Hair and Beauty learning for children aged 13 and above who are not currently in school. Sessions focus on practical, hands-on activities, confidence building, and personal development, with learning mapped towards relevant VTCT Skills pathways where appropriate.

Wellbeing and Social Support

Alongside practical training, the Wednesday class actively supports wellbeing and social interaction. Activities encourage communication, friendship-building, self-esteem, and emotional confidence, creating a welcoming space where children feel safe, valued, and supported.

Academic Support

To strengthen wider learning, the class includes supportive maths and English activities linked to hair, beauty, or barbering and everyday skills. Small written tasks help learners practise spelling, punctuation, grammar, communication, and confidence in a calm, encouraging environment.

Resources Provided

All tools and equipment necessary for Hair and Beauty activities are supplied, allowing every participant to fully engage without additional expense. Refreshments are also provided during each session to ensure comfort and wellbeing.

Community Impact

The Wednesday home-schooling class gives children a place to learn, connect, and develop. By offering structure, creativity, and support, the programme helps reduce isolation and provides families with a valuable community resource.

Costing

Costing has been carefully considered to ensure the club remains as accessible as possible for all families. Each session is priced at £35.00, with a one-off registration fee of £75.00. We have endeavoured to keep these costs to a minimum; however, the registration fee is a requirement from VTCT Skills and cannot be reduced further at this time.

Duration

The course runs for 16 weeks, with sessions taking place every Wednesday. This regular weekly structure helps children build routine, consistency, confidence, and a positive connection with learning. Class times 9:30am to 2:30pm and mini breaks are incorporated.

Staff Credentials

All staff members are enhanced DBS checked and fully qualified teachers, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment. Experienced educators are present at every session, delivering high-quality instruction and pastoral support. We have a dedicated Safeguarding team on site throughout the week and a mentor if required.
